  • Learn valuable reading skills
  • Carry new skills into the regular classroom
We give children the tools they need to become successful readers

Easy as ABC

Using horses as "books"

Horse Powered Reading® integrates social-emotional learning with academics. This enables the use of more senses than purely mind/eyesight coordination.

Sessions can immerse students in mind, body and emotions increasing awareness and confidence whilst subconsciously breaking down the blocks to reading.

Interacting with horses from the ground, whilst using toys and props we identify obstacles and blocks, and using the power of the horse these challenges are overcome, and clarity is found.

Learn five critical reading skills - phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension

The Road to Success

The Reading Road

The reading road is a great first step in highlighting  reading problems.

The student creates the road and puts their own personal "obstacles to reading" along the way.

As the student and horse navigate the road togather, solutions are found to clearing the blocks to reading creating many    "a-ha" moments.

Reading Support for Schools

We love to support reading in school! Currently we have two options

Option One is a session run at my premises just outside Bathgate using groups of up to 4 children.

-read to one of my four horses using their own chosen book ranging from well known picture books, Early readers and chapter books for 20 minutes.

-30 minute learning activity based on the needs of the group which may be sorting letters, phonemes, a treasure hunt, word play or even an escape room!

- ten minute self reflection on the session time and pick a child-friendly empowerment card.

The price for this is £20 per child for up to 4 per session.

Reading Support at School

Option Two If transport is an issue

I can also come to your school and run the session in the playground or even in the classroom with my miniature Shetland pony!

Reading would be in small groups and children would take it in turns to read to Milo. Afterwards we would do a short activity appropriate to classroom or playground.

The price for this is £100 inclusive of travel expenses for approx one hour, and discounted rate of £175 for a two hour session
